Course Description

Electronic resources make up a large portion of today's library collections, and electronic resources management (ERM) is an important skillset for library staff members to have. Unlike print resources, electronic resources require ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting to make sure library users are able to access them. In this course, participants will learn about maintenance procedures necessary to ensure access to electronic resources. The class will also cover common access issues and how to troubleshoot them.

Learning Objectives
  • Identify necessary tasks for electronic resource maintenance
  • Understand the ERM lifecycle in terms of points where access may break down

Prerequisites

Library staff who are new to electronic resources work or who would like an introduction to electronic resource management.

Homework Expectations
  • Requirements for completion include completing a well-formed XML exercise and viewing either the live session or the recording.
  • It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
