ILS System Administrator -- Kansas City Public Library -- Kansas City, MO
The Kansas City Public Library is looking for a Librarian who has a passion about using technology to build bridges and affect change. Are you a problem solver? We are looking for the optimal candidate to manage the Library’s Integrated Library Software (ILS) database and organize the support and functional requirements for the Kansas City Library Service Program (KC-LSP).
The ILS System Administrator reports to the Director of Information Systems. This position configures and maintains a hosted, SirsiDynix Symphony system and integrated applications that supports multiple libraries in the metropolitan area.
This position is highly collaborative and interacts with a variety of staff and vendors to support the core, ILS functions of the Library and its ILS partners and to enhance the ILS reliant functions.
Are you looking for the challenges associated with administrating and configuring tasks in a multi-site Library System and database? Preferred qualifications include a MLS/MLIS degree with a Systems or Metadata librarianship emphasis or a combination of education and experience with related computer networks experience. A demonstrated knowledge of scripting, specifically in PERL, and experience with UNIX (Linux, or SQL) are highly desired.
Requirements include: knowledge of data taxonomies and relational databases; experience writing documentation for end users and process; the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks; the ability to learn new skills and systems quickly; and the demonstrated characteristics of being a self-motivated, independent worker and strong, collaborative team player. This position participates in after-hours and on-call support rotation for Information Systems.
Must be able to travel to service sites. Experience working in libraries at any level is preferred. This is an exempt, full-time position with salary beginning at $63,000 DOQ plus excellent benefits.
